Daimler Diversity and Inclusion Video
Daimler Trucks North America
The Outside Communications team was contacted by the Daimler Trucks North America HR department to help out with a video communicating DTNA’s rich culture. As an international company, the company has been built on diversity. To celebrate this, the D&I team wanted a feature piece that communicated the culture at DTNA in an inspiring way.
The project came to life under coordinated efforts between the incredible D&I team and Rachel Jones, our project lead here at Outside Communications. We shot the video at corporate and industrial buildings in Portland and Detroit, filming at locations including DTNA headquarters and Detroit Diesel. All told, around 300 DTNA employees were involved in the video, and the coordination couldn’t have worked better. The folks at DTNA made rigorous shooting days possible, with impressive organization and eager participation. It’s amazing what happens when highly competent, hard working teams collaborate!
The D&I team masterfully crafted the script, while the OC team simply stepped in to trim it for video timing purposes. The script went from from a two-minute read down to a little over a minute and a half. We all agreed that a shorter delivery would provide a more impactful and accessible piece.
We filmed with our Sony PXW-FS7, one of our favorite 4K cameras. Since most of the shooting happened on the move, our crew lit the shots with a series of portable Astra Litepanels. For a more organic look, we chose to shoot mostly handheld.
The video has been a big hit at DTNA, shared across the company in both English and Spanish. We’re thankful for the opportunity to work with such an amazing company and such wonderful people.
